Singapore Netaji Ride 2024: Honoring History on Two Wheels

Hello, readers!

This is Somnath Banerjee, a cyclist from India riding under the name Bikquest Adventure. Today, I’m thrilled to share my incredible cycling experience in Singapore—one of my most memorable rides, dedicated to the indomitable legacy of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and the brave INA soldiers.

A Ride with Purpose

This ride wasn’t just another cycling adventure; it was a heartfelt tribute to Netaji, who declared India’s independence from Singapore on October 21, 1943. As I pedaled through the clean and disciplined streets of Singapore, I reflected on the immense sacrifices made by these heroes.

Planning the Journey

The preparation was seamless thanks to my cycle partner, Unirox, who provided me with a sturdy hybrid cycle for this trip. Flying with Singapore Airlines set the tone for this journey, offering unparalleled comfort, excellent service, and delicious in-flight meals.

Exploring Singapore on Two Wheels

Singapore greeted me with its vibrant blend of modernity, lush greenery, and a cycling-friendly infrastructure. My itinerary included stops at some iconic locations:

Marina Bay Sands: A masterpiece of architecture.

Merlion Park: The symbol of Singapore’s identity.

Sentosa Island & Universal Studios: Perfect for unwinding after long rides.

Victoria Park: A serene place to reflect on history.

INA Marker: The highlight of my journey, where I paid homage to Netaji and the INA soldiers.

Cycling through these destinations was not only invigorating but also a chance to experience Singapore’s harmony between nature and development.

A Warm Welcome and Memorable Hospitality

My stay at Marriott Bonvoy (Little India) and Holiday Inn (Orchard Road) was a delight, with their exceptional hospitality making me feel at home. Dining at Yantra Restaurant was a culinary highlight, where Chef Pinaki and Manager Shenthil welcomed me with warmth and delectable dishes.

Challenges and Reflections

No journey is without its challenges. Unfortunately, I lost my GoPro at Universal Studios, but the memories I carried back more than made up for it. Singapore’s efficiency, cleanliness, and disciplined culture left an indelible mark on my heart.

A Grateful Heart

I returned to Kolkata to a grand welcome at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, courtesy of my association with Travel Food Service (TFS) and Global Kitchens under K Corp. The support of individuals like Sudipta Sir, Jayanta, and my sponsors, including Unirox Cycle, made this ride possible.

Ending 2024 on a High Note

The year concluded with the presentation of a certificate for the Singapore Netaji Ride 2024 by Subir Sir of Unirox Cycle and Setwaki. This achievement is not just mine but belongs to everyone who encouraged and supported me in this endeavor.

The Takeaway

Singapore showed me the perfect balance of modernity and tradition, efficiency and creativity, and discipline and warmth. This ride was a reminder that cycling is not just about the miles—it’s about the stories, the connections, and the memories we create along the way.

Thank you for reading and being part of my journey. Stay tuned for more adventures from Bikquest Adventure!
